ANSWER
B. There is spontaneous
resolution of the neurologic deficit in a TIA
RATIONALE
•Due to cerebral ischemia,
there is a temporary loss of cognitive function that eventually resolves. A
large portion of patient’s with a TIA will suffer from a CVA and experience
permanent deficits.
•Transient Ischemic Attack
(TIA) is a warning sign of an impending CVA. It has a brief period of neurologic
deficit such as loss of vision, hemiparesis and, slurred speech.
•A TIA is not permanent,
and does not have long-term neurologic deficits. CVA may cause long-term
deficits.
